Mike recently spoke with Essential Surrey magazine ahead of the Mechanics’ upcoming appearance at the Wintershall charity rock concert on July 2nd. Interview conducted by William Gadsby Peet.
It is hard to do justice to the incredible career of Mike Rutherford. Having formed Genesis back when he was 15, he was with the band throughout its entire lifespan, helping the group sell over 150 million records worldwide. After Genesis went on hiatus he formed Mike + The Mechanics for “a bit of fun” which proved similarly successful, selling over 10 million records and racking up a host of British chart appearances for the band, with beautiful songs like ‘All I Need Is a Miracle’ and ‘Word of Mouth ‘
With Mike still enjoying his music, Surrey locals have the opportunity to catch a set from the rock legend on July 2 in Guildford. Mike + The Mechanics will be performing at the annual Wintershall Charity Rock Concert, a unique outdoor show taking place in the gorgeous surroundings of Wintershall Estate. The event is black tie with tickets costing £100 (U25s) to £150 (adults). This year the concert will be raising money for Haste and the James Wentworth-Stanley Fund.
